CAIRO, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Wushu Association Chairman Samir Fouad on Saturday hailed the good cooperation between Egypt and China in sports.

Fouad made the remarks during his address to a Wushu performance organized by his association and the Chinese embassy in Cairo on Saturday night to welcome the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

He noted that there are already four Egyptians qualified for the Beijing Wushu competitions and Egyptian players have won medals in every World Wushu Championships.

Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Wu Chunhua introduced China's ongoing preparations for the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games, expressing his gladness to see so many Egyptian fans of Chinese Wushu.

"I hope that more Egyptian friends will know China and Chinese culture via Wushu, which will become a bridge to boost the Sino-Egyptian friendship," said Wu.

Before the performance, the participants mourned the victims in the deadly earthquake in southwest China's Sichuan province on May 12.
