(BEIJING, June 4) -- On Wednesday afternoon, Liu Qi, president of BOCOG and secretary of the Beijing Municipal CPC Committee, visited China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Swissotel Beijing and Beijing Hotel, to assess preparation work of food, lodging and medical services for the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics. He emphasized BOCOG's commitment to provide high-level and safe services to guests from all around the world during the Games.
China-Japan Friendship Hospital is among the 23 hospitals that have been designated for the 2008 Summer Games. The hospital has already finished its preparations. Liu Qi visited the International Department of the hospital and gave assurances that athletes will be given equal treatment, regardless of which country they come from.
Swissotel Beijing is the Olympic Family Hotel for the 2008 Paralympics. To allow people with a disability to feel at home, the hotel has done a lot of renovation work, including widening the doors of rooms and adding handrails in bathrooms and ramps that lead to the dining hall. Liu expressed satisfaction with what the hotel staff has done.
Beijing Hotel is the Olympic Family Hotel for the Olympic Games and will serve as a workspace for IOC officials during the Olympics. Liu carefully inspected preparation work during Wednesday's visit.
Liu praised the relevant departments for their hard work and encouraged them to continue making improvements in order to provide excellent service during the Beijing Games. He stressed that athletes and officials as well as spectators from all around the world are friends of China and should be treated equally. He also made a commitment to food safety and media transparency during the Games.
