The sailing competition venue of the 29th Olympic Games and the 13th Paralympic Games, Qingdao Olympic Sailing Centre, is located at the former Beihai Dockyard by Fushan Bay at the East New Zone of Qingdao, adjacent to the May 4th Square and Donghai Avenue. The famous sight spot “Yan’er Isle and Autumn Tide” is to the near southeast of Yan’er Hill.
Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center covers 45 hectare area, comprising of 30 hectare competition area and 15 hectare area for development after the Games. There are seven facilities, including Qingdao Sub-Village, Athletes Center, Administrative Center, Venue Media Center, Logistics Center, Reception Center and Accreditation Center.
All the constructions facilities of Qingdao Olympic Sailing Centre will be completed by the end of 2006. “Good Luck Beijing-2006 and 2007 Qingdao International Regatta” had been successfully held within the venue. The excellent venue facilities have gained overwhelming praises from the participants and guests from China and all over the world. It is regarded as “the best Olympic venue of Asia”.
